Not so hot local campaign

School is Cool car Giveaway : A brand new car or $18,000 scholarship was given away to one local graduating HS student with perfect k-12 attendance.
  • Not Social Mavens: Little info can be found online about this promo. Only one tweet from WCACC that linked to an invite to the event could be found. An online press release was posted 2 days before the event.
  • Interactive: None - just an online press release. Not a list of students and no build up to the event could be found.
  • Campaign Identity: School is Cool has its own identity - but the car giveaway campaign seemed to appear just days before the giveaway. The car giveaway was not visible (community wide) until the week of the event.
  • Sponsor Hype: Sadly for Wetzel there seemed to be very little press for this event - especially given their $18,000 grand prize. The Pal-Item wrap up reported that "dozens" attended. Not hundreds - dozens.
Other comments: WCACC should be commended for such a GREAT event and award - a new car or $18,000 scholarship!! They obviously have great talent for producing creative incentives. In my opinion - the entire concept and partnership was great - just the delivery from a social marketing standpoint fizzled.
