I recently attended the WHATS THE BIG IDEA conference hosted by Main Street Richmond and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Interesting speakers. My favorite presentation was by Scot Henderson of MediaSauce who shared exciting ideas on highly interactive web development as well as the importance of utilizing viral marketing tools - like LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.... Making it easy for people to find you, the real you, and having the ability to research you beyond a stale business website are musts in today's highly interactive society.
One point to consider though - whatever tools you decide to utilize - be sure it stays true to you.
